Suitability

1. Lifting Plates Flat (Horizontal Orientation)
Ideal for:
Loading/unloading laser or plasma cutting tables
Moving stock plates in a warehouse
Keeps the plate stable and balanced when used in pairs
2. Handling Thin to Medium Thickness Plates
Works well where:
Magnetic lifters lose efficiency (thin sheets)
Good grip even when magnetic contact would be weak
3. Slightly Rough or Painted Surfaces
Mechanical clamping is less affected by:
Rust
Mill scale
Paint
4. Long or Large Plates
Using 2 or more clamps distributes load evenly
Prevents bending or sagging
⚠️ Limitations (Important to Consider)
1. Must Be Used in Pairs (or More)
A single clamp is not safe for horizontal lifting
Requires:
Equal load distribution
Proper rigging setup
2. Edge Access Required
Cannot be used if:
Plate edges are blocked
Plates are tightly stacked
3. Surface Damage Risk
Clamps bite into the material → may leave marks
Not ideal for:
Finished or polished plates
4. Limited for Very Thick Plates
Jaw opening limits capacity
For very thick plates, vertical lifting or magnets may be better
5. Operator Skill Required
Incorrect positioning can cause:
Plate slipping
Uneven load → dangerous lift
